Avenue des Champs-Elysees

One of the most famous streets in the world, Avenue des Champs-Elysees has an extensive history as well as being one of the best places to shop in the capital of France. Originally sprawling fields brimming with vegetables for traders to sell at Parisian markets. In the 17th Century, the French Queen at the time decided she  wanted a beautiful avenue lined with trees, and so the creation of the street began. Over the years the avenue has been expanded and houses erected alongside the road.

Present day and the beautiful tree-lined street in the heart of the city is home to famous names including Louis Vuitton, Hugo Boss, and Lacoste. 

Renowned for its shops, theatres, and cafes, this 1.9 kilometres long street runs between the Place de la Concorde and the Place Charles de Gaulle where the famous landmark, Arc de Triomphe is located. One of the most beautiful avenues in the world, this street is the city's backbone and central nerve. With the chic street surrounded by stunning French architecture, this avenue is a top tourist location and one of the most photographed places in Paris. 

A top attraction for tourists in the area is Bastille Day. When on the 14th July the largest military parade in Europe passes down this incredible street. The sight is viewed by thousands who line the pavements. 

Additionally during the Christmas season, this street glitters with lights and is a beautiful place to stroll and see the amazing decorations on display at some of the most affluent shops in the area.
