The Metrocentre

Located in Gateshead next to the River Tyne is the UK's largest shopping and entertainment centre – The MetroCentre. Officially opened in 1986 the centre is home to over 340 shops as well as a vast array of restaurants, cafés, and bars. It also features a 12 screen Odeon cinema with an IMAX screen and a 18 lane bowling alley.
The MetroCentre is a shoppers’ paradise and contains a great range of shops from international designers to high street brands, smaller boutiques and quirky stalls.
The centre is open 7 days a week plus the cinema and many of the restaurants are open late so it is a great place to go for an evening out or a bite to eat. There are great transport links to the centre including a public bus service and railway. For those making their own way by car there is plenty of free parking available.
