What is a serviced apartment?

A serviced apartment in London is an experience, not just a property, and our dedicated team takes your city break or vacation seriously. We believe that a serviced apartment should be a home away from home no matter how long your stay is. With opportunities to completely personalise your stay in a serviced apartment and with our winning customer service, you can’t go wrong with Citybase apartments.

  • With many similar services typically offered by a high-end hotel, but with the advantages of personal space, serviced apartments have many benefits, such as:
  • No hassle of following a schedule for breakfast and dinner each day. With one of our holiday apartments in London, you are able to cook in your own space and in your own time. Having this option means you can alternate between cooking in your fully fitted kitchen and exploring the city to find excellent eateries when you feel like it.
  • A furnished kitchen and lounge. You can treat this apartment as a home away from home, meaning you won’t have to change your daily routine. With your own lounge, you have plenty of space to relax or entertain after a day of exploring London’s many attractions.
  • Optional extras. Depending on your preferences you can choose to include as many added benefits as you like, including services such as a pool, gym or laundry facility depending on your choice of apartment. You can also choose a dog-friendly serviced apartment in London, so you can bring your beloved furry friend along on the trip.
  • Having multiple rooms for you and your family. While the children are asleep in one room you won’t have to worry about waking them up as you sit and relax in a separate space.
  • A rate that will improve the longer you stay. Unlike hotel rooms where there is a fixed price per for the amount of stay. The VAT drops to 4% after 28 nights, meaning longer stays are even better valued for money.

Places to see/things to do in London

Nightlife

From the West end to Soho, London’s districts offer the most entertainment in the form of pubs, bars and restaurants. With famous theatres such as Victoria Palace that has been host to a range of infamous musicals such as Hamilton and the unlimited supply of rooftop bars across the city, London’s nightlife is guaranteed to impress.

History

London is drenched in history, with various historical locations – from the ancient to the modern - open to the public. From landmarks like Big Ben to the National History Museum, there is enough history to satisfy your interest.

The V&A is one of the most famous museums situated in the centre. Famous for their incredibly large collection of artefacts - with over 233,742 objects ranging from drawings, photographs, clothes and many more, the V&A is the biggest museum of history and culture in London.

A couple of sections to look out for are the fashion and jewellery galleries, as these tend to change regularly and have more objects introduced each year, with special collections on show too.

The Tower of London is a truly iconic building, dating back to 1078 when it was known as the White Tower. Built by William the Conqueror, the tower represented a symbol of oppression and a new ruling.

Food and Drink

No other city will offer as many different choices of delicious and unique food - from restaurants with elaborate themes to Sky-high bars, you will never run out of places to eat in London.

A great place to visit for a quirky eating experience is the restaurant Sketch. Located in the centre of Mayfair, Sketch is one of London’s most brilliantly bizarre venues. Known for its interesting layout and bizarre ‘egg-shaped cubicles’ as toilets, Sketch is a must-go place with your friends and family. With breakfast, lunch and cocktail menus available, this restaurant caters for all types of groups at all times of the day.

Travel Information

Underground

Travelling around a modern city has never been so easy. With 14 different tubes running every minute throughout the city, you can easily plan to arrive at your destination in no time. Furthermore, the night tubes of Victoria, Central, Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly all run 24 hours a day, meaning if you’re having a late-night with some friends, getting back to your serviced accommodation in London won’t be a problem.

River transport

Along with the option of taking the tube, you have the option to relax and enjoy the view on London’s river buses. With 22 piers around the city and the option to use your Oyster card to travel, the river buses are just as easy to use as the underground.

Buses

As cheap transport goes, London has an incredible range of value options available. With a typical bus fare only costing £1.50 and the maximum bus travel in one day totalling £4.50, this is the cheapest travel to use for all the family. Once tapping onto a bus you can use any amount of buses as you want in that hour for no extra cost.

Driving

London traffic can get quite busy but it is possible to drive to, and around the city. There are lots of places you can hire vehicles for as it is quite straightforward as long as you have a valid driving licence. If you do plan on driving to London or hiring a car we would recommend looking into the London Congestion charge.
