In 2012 millions of people around the world tuned in to watch the Olympic Games take place in London.  To the west of the centre a huge development took place in Stratford to create the Olympic Park, boasting world class sports facilities.

Today the Olympic Park has been reopened, and is the largest new park to open in London for a century!  Following the games, the park was given a dramatic facelift, with a focus on making the area a relaxing green space, full of wildlife.

The park spans the size of Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park put together, welcoming visitors and London locals alike to enjoy the capital’s newest playground.  Tours operate throughout the park telling the story of the 2012 Games and the ideas behind the park’s unique architecture.  For those who prefer a more active approach, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

The London Aquatics Centre is proving a popular choice, with its ultra-modern appearance and 50-metre Olympic swimming pools attracting the next Michael Phelps and Tom Daley!  The centre has 2 pools, with 8 and 10 lanes.

The Lee Valley Velopark is a must for any cycling enthusiasts from BMX racers to mountain bikers.  Bicycles are available to hire on site, with the velodrome, 390 metre BMX track, floodlit road circuit and three graded mountain bike trails open to the public.

Olympic Park is now home to the London Lions, local basketball team, who play in The Copper Box Arena.  The Copper Box Arena also acts as leisure centre space for locals, offering fitness classes and activity spaces.  The venue also plays host to a number sporting and music events.

For the kids, the Tumbling Bay Playground is a fun mix of rock pools, sandpits, suspended walkways and bridges.  The park also has a number of interactive trails, including a children’s trail complete with secret missions.

Finally, see London in a unique light, with a fascinating view from the top of the Arcelormittal Orbit.  The iconic sculpture offers a viewing platform at 100m high, giving a superb view of the ever changing London skyline.
