Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum

Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is set in a stunning red sandstone building this is one of the most visited museums outside London and one of Scotland’s top attractions.  Built-in 1888 and opened in 1901, the Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery was designed by Sir John W. Simpson and E.J. Milner Allen. 

To the centre of the Main Hall is a pipe organ that was constructed and installed by Lewis & Co. Originally part of the Glasgow International Exhibition the organ has been described as the soul of the art gallery. Kelvingrove is now home to one of Europe’s best art collections. 

The art gallery and museum are free to enter and are open 7 days a week. The museum is popular with people of all ages and offers a range of different exhibitions. Highlights include Macintosh and Glasgow style gallery, the arms and armour collection, the natural history exhibition, and Dali’s painting ‘Christ of St John of the cross.’

The art gallery also has special events and exhibitions throughout the year although you may be required to purchase tickets in advance for these.
