I was initially skeptical about the location being near the Cambridge train station as I feared we would hear the trains. However, this bijoux property is sheltered from the noises and sights of the train station, even from the nearby construction sites. It is within walking distance of town, trains and buses, and the Cambridge leisure centre and nearby shops. It's generally a well laid out and quiet neighbourhood though a screaming match between a couple breaking up in public one lunchtime and noisy louts around 11pm every night make it not for the feint hearted.
As ever with Citybased apartments, the welcome basket was generous and heart warming. The apartment was very clean, and all that was lacking was a potted plant somewhere to lessen the sterility of the cleanliness, but that's a minor quibble. There was cleaning equipment, dish washing and laundry detergent to help us keep the apartment clean, would have liked toilet cleaner as well, but used the multi-purpose cleaner. It would be a nice extra touch to have idiot-proof instructions for the washing machine taped to the side of the machine or in the information pack. Had to read the manual, which took time.
Generally, we had a super time and since this is our second booking at a Citybase property, and we had a decent place to stay with reasonable service from Citybase's local partner.
I find that Citybase has excellent customer service standards but their local partners lack their finesse in customer correspondence. The properties and on the ground service are fine, but the correspondence is a little cold.
