  You won’t need to get in your car when you stay at the Hansen Residence as the city’s best shops, bars, restaurants and attractions are all a short walk away from your doorstep. Union Street is nearby with the big brand retailers as well as independent boutiques. There are plenty of cuisines from around the world to choose from as well as your pick of bars and cafès. If you’re keen to learn about the history of the city then head to Shiprow, one of the oldest roads in the city dating back to 1281, where you’ll find the Maritime Museum, and discover Aberdeen’s industrial links to the sea. Next door is the Merchant Quarter with The Green at its centre, dating back to medieval time. This was an important entry point into the city and now is a fashionable shopping area and live music venue. Not far from the apartment is the city beach, worth a walk along the promenade for a blast of fresh sea air, and where you can sometimes spot seals offshore. Further up the coast you can try you hand at the famous golf courses that Aberdeen has to offer, including the Royal Aberdeen Golf Club, venue for the Scottish Open in 2014.

  Travel

  With such a central location much of the city can be accessed on foot, with bus and taxi routes linking the rest of the surrounding suburbs. Aberdeen’s train station is ten minutes walk away on Guild Street, next to Union Square, and the bus station is next door on Union Square. Aberdeen’s airport is a 20 minute drive away and can be reached by taxi or bus, here you can travel on to destinations including London, Manchester or Birmingham.
