Caldea Spa is the largest health and wellbeing spa in Europe. With 6000 square meters of lagoons, both indoor and out, jacuzzis, saunas, a grapefruit pool, Indo-Roman baths, an Aztecian pool, cascades, warm marble slates, bubble beds and a great deal more.
Caldea makes use of the water that emerges from the thermal source in Escaldes-Engordany which measures at a steady 68º C to establish a calming balance between body, soul and water. The word 'caldea' comes from ancient Catalan and means warm and tonifying and during Roman times, the word 'calidae' designated a warm water source.
In the Wellness Area (with access to the main spa): Visitors can follow a beauty or relaxation programme in Caldea's VIP area for anything from 1 to 15 days with treatments such as peelings, massages, aerobaths and beauty treatments. There is a choice of modules including a pre-set course or "a la carte" which enables you to select which treatments appeal to you the most.
In the Main Spa (without access to the Wellness): this is intended for those that just want to take a break and unwind for a while in warm thermal water and get a massage after a hard day’s skiing.
To really get the most out of Caldea, it is definitely worth going to the Wellness Area, even if it is just for one day. The main spa has a maximum capacity of 500 people and can fill up during holidays, evenings and weekends. In the Wellness Area, Caldea only allows up to 25 people in to maintain the harmonious atmosphere, even when the Main Spa is busy.
