Getting Around
Madrid boasts an efficient, comprehensive transport network that covers the whole city centre.
• Metro – modern, clean, efficient and extremely good value the 12 lines of the metro cover most of the city.
• Bus – with approximately 200 routes the bus network covers where the metro doesn’t.
• Train – 12 lines link the city with neighbouring towns and cities.
Eat/Drink
Like most major European cities, Madrid offers a vast array of gastronomic delights ranging from traditional Spanish fare to international cuisine. There are many local specialities that are well worth a try:
• Sopa de Ajo – a rich and oily garlic soup generally served with paprika, shredded Spanish ham, fried bread and a poached egg.
• Cocido Madrileno – chickpea stew with meat and vegetables – all served and eaten separately.
