Get Around
Nice is a fairly compact city and is easily navigated on foot. There are a few public transport options however:
• Bus – a comprehensive bus network links the city.
• Tram – new routes operate a limited service from Las Plana to Pont Michel.
• Taxi – available to hail on the street or from taxi ranks at the station, Promenade des Anglais and the Old Town.
Eat/Drink
Like most of France the food in Nice is excellent with a number of local specialities a must try.
• Ratatouille – or Ratatouille Niçoise to give it its full name. A stewed vegetable dish of tomatoes, garlic, onions, courgettes, aubergine, peppers, marjoram, basil and a mix of local herbs. Served usually as a side dish or sometimes as a main meal with rice or bread.
• Socca – best described as a chickpea crepe. Made with chickpea flour, olive oil and seasoned generously with black pepper. Eat hot with your fingers.
• Salade Niçoise – elegantly presented Salade Niçoise generally comprises of lettuce, carefully prepared vegetables – tomatoes, new potatoes and green beans – hard-boiled eggs, tuna, olives, anchovies and finished with a Dijon vinaigrette.
• Pan-bagnat – a sandwich based around Salade Niçoise.
