Climate/Weather

Perth experiences hot, dry summers that usually last from December to late March with February being the hottest month. Winters tend to be relatively cool and wet with most rain falling between May and September. Summer temperatures range from 15°C to 32°C where as winter temperatures are usually between 8°C and 18°C.

Sightseeing

There is a whole host of things to see and do in Perth with something to suit every timetable. Here are some of the highlights:

Getting Around

There are a number of transport options for getting around the city centre and suburbs.

•    Bus – the Central Area Transit (CAT) offers three free routes around the city and Northbridge.

•    Ferry – services operate across the Swan River between the Barrack Street jetty to the Mends Street jetty in South Perth.

•    Train – more suitable for commuters than tourist however many visitors find the Mandurah and Freemantle lines useful.

Eat/Drink

Perth offers a great selection of restaurants serving an array of food from around the world. However, there are some authentic Aussie and local dishes well worth a try:

•    Pie floater – a meat pie covered in a thick pea soup and often served with tomato ketchup and vinegar.

•    Kangaroo meat – although readily available kangaroo meat is popular with tourists but not generally eaten by locals.
