Belfast Apartment Types

Belfast is a city with a long history and real character. Having undergone dramatic changes over the years, it's a unique and cultural city, where you can enjoy a warm welcome and a distinctive atmosphere.

History

Dating back to the Bronze Age - there is a five thousand year old henge just outside the city - Belfast is a truly historic city. It was, however, a minor settlement throughout the middle ages, only becoming established as a town in the seventeenth century. Belfast blossomed quickly, becoming Ireland's pre-eminent industrial city in the nineteenth century. It was established as the capital of Northern Ireland when the country was split in 1921, and although there have been troubled times, it has emerged as a unique, cultural city and a great place for a city break.

Getting In & Getting Around

Belfast has two airports - George Best Belfast City Airport, just two miles from the city centre, and Belfast International Airport, which is further away but offers more international flights. Both are connected to the city by a regular airport bus service. Great Victoria Street is the main railway station, with four lines to destinations around Northern Ireland and a regular service to Dublin. There are also ferries from Belfast to mainland Great Britain. Once in the city, it's easy to get around on foot, or you can use the comprehensive bus services or black taxis.

Culture, Sights & Attractions

Queen's University, BelfastYou'll find plenty of things to see and do close to your Belfast accommodation; the city centre offers attractions such as the City Hall, St. Anne's Cathedral, and the Titanic Quarter, where you can take a boat tour around the docks where the ill-fated ship was built. For the energetic visitor, a climb up the nearby Cavehill will provide spectacular views across the city, while families will enjoy visiting the animals at Belfast Zoo. One more unusual attraction you may find, within easy reach of our Belfast apartments, are the famous Belfast murals - large-scale paintings, often politically themed, which take up the sides of entire houses. A black taxi tour is a good way to see these.

You'll find a great range of restaurants, takeaways and bars close to our Belfast apartments. For fine dining, the city centre offers some delicious treats - including famous chefs and a Michelin starred restaurant. The Crown Liquor Saloon is an attraction by itself - some say it's the most beautiful pub in Northern Ireland. Alternatively, you can enjoy the traditional Irish craic in a great range of friendly pubs.
